English-Drama-Art Retired: 1993. Employed by YCUSD 1961-1993. Yes, I taught English at YCHS for all those years. (although I wanted a job coaching football, the Administration said there were “no openings” and for me there would never be one!) After teaching English for some years, I became Department Chair. Our Department also put on plays for the faculty and community. We thought the plays were just great, but now I wonder. I acted and sang in several District musicals, and even directed a few. My wife, Diana, and our sons also were involved —sets, lighting, tickets. Diana helped with make-up and/or costumes. During my last few years at YCHS, I also taught art classes. After I retired, I taught Humanities for Yuba College at Beale AFB. (I still had a football coaching job in mind, but Yuba College wouldn’t buy into it either.) I finally resolved my football dreams were over … I shifted my focus to painting and teaching watercolors. I worked mainly at the Golden Valley Art Center. I had fun doing a few art shows. Today I give art lessons to our Grandhcildren when we babysit. And, now I just watch football on TV.
